Crocheting

Hi there,

Yet another week-end is on its final hours and I am coming to the same realization as usual: week-ends never feel long enough... And it doesn't matter if you get an extra hour or an extra day; the anticipation of the next week-end is what drives a lot of us to make it from week to week.

I have been anticipating week-ends even more so lately because with the temperatures slowly dropping I have been crocheting more and more.

Now, I know crocheting sounds like a very grandma-ich activity to do… and let’s face it, it absolutely is. However, for someone like me who was never considered being “creative” or crafty, it is exhilarating to be able to create with bare hands.

Why did I choose crocheting of all other crafts? Well, it’s a logical craft. All you need to be good at is counting… and always preferring math to art class growing up, it make sense.

While on an antique hunt at the beginning of the year, I came accross the cutest baby hand-knitted hats for sale in a decorative store and I figured to myself: how hard can that be? A few days later, I bought a few supplies and began searching for internet videos to learn the techniques. It was very awkward and somewhat frustrating at first. I took quite a few tries before I could make my first couple of stitches…

Soon after that I realized that knitters and crocheters had their own communicative language with a whole bunch of codes that were very difficult to make out. So the research continued to find the translation to all those confusing codes.

It took a lot of time and practice but I am now starting to have pride in some of my finished products.

Now, I have to be honest, my entrepreneurial mind has also been a huge motivating factor in this endeavor. I figured, if I manage to create quality items in a minimal amount of time, I could potentially profit from this hobby.

So if you are thinking of starting to crochet for whatever reason, be patient and you’ll see: You can do it!!!
My plan is to post basic instructions in the near future for anyone who wish to get started. I am still working on writing instructions so in the mean time; here are a few items I made in the last year.

Until next time…

M
